Since this issue, People has become a popular magazine of celebrity and pop culture news and is best known for yearly special issues naming The 50 Most Beautiful People, The Best and Worst Dressed and The Sexiest Man Alive.
------------------------------------------------------------
The cover was very simple, great face expressions. The lighting is a bit too bright, but the skin color of the woman makes it blend in with the photograph. The photograph makes the viewer wonder about the woman and her surroundings.

Lytro Warm-Up.

1. I saw that the focus on the picture changed. Every time you clicked on a different place on the photograph, the focus changed, it either got clear, or a bit blurry.

2. This camera takes pictures with a different focus, you can manage where the focus will be on the photograph that your going to take.

3. You need to know the rules of photography , and how to corporate them into the photograph. Your going to have to know what exactly your going to take a picture of.You can change the change the focus at anytime.

4.Yes, because it gives you the opportunity to change the focus on the thing that your going to be photographing. It takes the pictures differently than other cameras.

Self Portrait and Portraits Part II

-Favorite Tips -
  • Use a tripod. Seriously. While it’s possible to get good photos while you’re hanging on to your camera at arms-length, it’s a lot easier if you’ve got the freedom to move around a bit.
  • Have fun with it. Be sexy. Be yourself. Be awesome. Be different. Be creative. Whatever you do, have fun with it. That’s part of the point, after all.
  • Think about your motivation and emotions: Blankly staring at the camera rarely gets good results. Be silly, don’t be afraid to over-act. The worst that can happen is that you fill up your memory card with useless photos; but you might also find yourself with a proper gold-nugget of a self portrait.
-Environmental Portrait-

I liked this photograph because it shows love and companion. It shows learning and comprehending. I like babies, and this picture just screamed out to me " Pick me ! Pick me ! I'm a great photograph. " , so i picked it. The mom teaching her baby shows love and caring for the baby.

I picked this photograph because its interesting. The guy is standing on the edge, it might look dangerous but it's a thriller. I like that the guy is standing on the edge of the cliff , it makes the viewer wonder what he was doing up there.

-Photography Self Portrait-

I picked this photograph because the face expression on the girl makes the viewer wonder, she looks mad or depressed. I like that her eyes make contact with the viewers eyes when looking at her.

I picked this photograph because the colors used on her eye shadow and flowers on her head. I like that it's just her face showing. It's very beautiful. Her face expression is good.

-Casual Portrait-

I chose this picture because the background on the photograph is amazing. The point of view from where the picture was taken is great. It has good photography rules, and it's overall a great photograph. I like that he body posture is in the rule of thirds and not just centered; that would make the picture a little boring.

I chose this photograph because the girls are in good body posture. The picture has great rules of photography. I like that the girls are all facing each other and not just towards the camera.

-My Plan for the Photographs-
My plan for the photographs that we're going to be taking is that, i need to have a good camera first of all. I don't think the photograph is going to be of me. I'm going to take the picture of another person. I need to practice my rules of photography. I'm thinking of shooting outside, I'm not too sure though because it's been raining lately so yeah that might mess up the picture.
1. I would like to go to "Spreepark" in Berlin, Germany. The reason i would like to go take photographs there is because its amusing. Being able to see all those statues of dinosaurs, and the swans. It stands out, most amusement parks don't have all those kinds of dinosaurs, dragons etc. That place looks really abandoned but its unique.

2.

3.
-A dark tunnel , with a lot of graffiti on it.
-An abandoned church
-An abandoned museum of art or like some type of old building
-Abstract things such as, animals, people doing extraordinary things etc.

4.

5. I like that it's abandoned, not many people may want to visit the because its not in use. I would take pictures of the inside of the building. This place is interesting to me because, i like museums, and the fact that it's abandoned makes me want to visit there and photograph it.

6.Obviously i would need to get a good transportation, such as a plane or train. I would need a good tripod, good camera, i would need money of course . I'm not sure how much money i would need , but I'm sure its somewhat of a lot . I would need to research if I'm eligible to go and photograph the inside, i wouldn't want to be trans-passing on private property .

Portraits and Self-Portraits - Start Looking

Favorite self portrait.
2008 contest entry.
The fact that the finger is touching the water makes it stand out. The color of the water is beautiful. This photograph is simple , yet balanced with its surroundings. It's a photograph because it has all of the rules of photography.

Favorite
Mark Seligner photograph.
This photograph has simplicity. Its well balanced. Not too much going on, but its unusual. I think the fact that the paint is going down her face, it makes it more unique ; her face expression is somewhat relaxed, and comfortable within her self. That makes this photograph a good picture.

Ethics in Fashion Photography.

1. They fixed her neck and extended it to make it look longer, decreased the side of her shoulders ; made her eyes look higher and larger ; and decreased the sides of her face to make her looks skinny.

2. It is not ethical to changes someones appearance on a photograph , because later on if she want's so sue them for some sort of reason the judge won't be able to take the case to court because in the photograph the model and the Photoshopped picture look nothing alike.

3. Yes, because that makes the person look even more fake due to the fact that they don't look alike.

4. Maybe fixing blemishes or something like that, but not making her neck longer or fixing her eyes or trying to make her look skinnier. ?

5. I think that fashion photography is like photos of peoples face like a close up, and photojournalism is taking photographs of all sorts of things.

6. What relationship does each type of photography have to reality, and how does this affect the ethical practice of each? This makes us be fake people, its saying that we should ALL be perfect, but honestly no body is ever perfect. We are all different in a way. If all of us were to be perfect, would we really be perfect or is it just publicity ; like actually think about it , if we were all perfect would we really be perfect since we all look alike or would we just be clones.

Photo Manipulation and Ethics

That selection was about people that got caught for Photoshopping some photographs. It said what exactly they did to make the Photoshop. This all started on April 1st ,2003 also known as "April Fools Day". All the people that did a Photoshop got caught and got fired from their jobs. I think that the type of photo editing is unethical because you shouldn't Photoshop any photograph without permission. Those photographs shouldn't have even been published in the fist place.

I think this is the most ethical photograph because , i don't think anyone would want to have those teeth. It was a good thing to do a Photoshop to this photographs.

The photographs to the left are the most unethical photoshop. I think its unethical because maybe in the future they might be wondering what really happened but are going to be surprised by looking at two identical photographs but the background is different. That might confuse a couple of people.

National Geographic Warm-up.

I chose this photograph because its abstract. It has great rule of thirds, and the view from where the picture was shot is excellent. I chose this photograph because i like abstract  things and the moment i saw this photograph, it caught my eye.

I would take a photograph of a tornado, but not just any tornado, it would be one that has a lot of action going on ; not too much throwing things around type of tornado. I would take a photo of a tornado that is in motion towards a small abandoned house. It would be some what simple, yet action going on.

Cool Video

The video was nice. I liked that it showed the homecoming pictures from the rally. I would like to have seen featured maybe students at the rally game. The video was great i don't think it would need to be improved.

American Soldier Slide Show and Captions.

2)
A. What is the most powerful image from the slideshows? Why?
The one on Chapter 8, Ian Fisher - Coming Home. It's a photograph of a medal given to Ian by his squad leader. Its the most powerful image because its showing his great accomplishments from Iraq.

B. What sequence of photographs is the most powerful? Why?
Chapter 6 , because it's showing what he does in Iraq , fighting for our country.

c. How do the images work together to tell a story?
They're in sequence of how everything was happening.

3)
A. The verbs in the photographs where Ian is the main subject , are described in a present tense.

B. The captions enhance the photographs by describing what the subject is and what exactly is happening in the picture.

4)
A.
- Chapter 2- 6th photo, where they're shaving his head.
Caption : Bobby is having a 46 year old man shave his head right before morning training.
- Chapter 5 - 25th photo, where dad and son are togethere.
Caption : Bobby and his dad , Rob McDonalds, are at Wal-mart  having father son bonding.
-Chapter7 - 28th photo, where there is a guy with some sort of broom or something and is trying to push the dirt, while some guy is supervising his work.
Caption : Bobby is doing his afternoon routine while his supervisors Ronny, Chris and John are looking at his work, making sure he is doing it correctly.

5)
A. These videos enhance the photographs by giving us a more visual perspective about the situation.

B.Videos are better than photographs because they give you a more visual look about the time, and in photographs you have to make a prediction about what exactly is happening. Like in Chapter 1 you are being described the setting and everything but in the video the parents are talking about the things happening.

C.On the other hand, photographs are better that videos at times , lets say you have a photograph and a video and you are asked to make a prediction , im pretty sure you would choose the photographs since with a picture you can actually make a prediction, but with a video it shows what it actually is. For instance, in chapter 1 the 3rd photo shows Ian in his cap and gown from graduation, you can actually make an inference about what is happening , but in the video it doesn't show what exactly happened, and you can't predict since they just gave you the facts.

Caption Writting Photographs.

Kevin and his brother Johnny are at McDonalds, for lunch
Kevin orders some large fries and is still hungry.
Kevin: Are you gonna finish that?

John and his friends, Lauren and Max are at a park late afternoon, and just saw a flying panda.
John: Say cheese !
Panda: Meow !

There was this massive flood in the city in mid April,
and Billy is a 47 year old man, he is starving.
Billy : Hello? Yes, Pizza Hutt ?

Instagram Phone Photography

1. What theme that we could take here at school could we do a series of these panels to place around the school?
We could take some themes of students doing a science experiment, or a student solving a math problem on the board, or maybe even students at lunch.

2. Should we use phones only, or should we open it up to our regular cameras for those people that don't have camera phones?
We should probably use cameras and phones to take the pictures. They may be different quality but its okay. Like for the people who don't own a camera phone they should use a regular camera.

3. Where would you want to put the mural on campus?
I would want to put the mural in the front doors, like where the flags are at, but inside so people can see it when they walk in, it would look nice there.

Warm Up 10/13/11

1. What do you have to do on the camera to make this type of photo?
For the LCD display you have to set the stops at 9.5 stops, and the contrast at 700:1 (250:1 - 1750:1)

 2. Is a Canon T3 able to shoot bracketed photos?
Yes, the Cannon T3 is able to shoot bracketed photos.

3. Is there a place on campus we could take a series of photos like this?
Maybe the front of the school, like the main doors in the front. Or maybe the track.

4. Do a google image search for HDR photos and find your favorite, post it on your blog, tell me why you picked that photo and then tell me what techniques (rules of photography) the photographer used.

This was my favorite picture, the photographer used balance, a good job on avoiding mergers, rule of thirds, and good framing, he made the picture simple, and not too crowded with detail. It doesn't have any merges , and the framing is fabulous. He balanced the photograph nicely and it doesn't look lob sided or anything.

Fixed Photo Shoot Post Shoot Reflection.

1. What did you learn about the camera when you took these photos?
I learned how to change the Shutter Speed, and the f-stop .

.2. What do you notice about all the photos and the way they look?
That every time , they kept going darker and darker when the Shutter speed increased.

3. Can you tell the difference between each ISO? Explain how.
Yes, you can tell the difference because each time the ISO increased the pictures kept going brighter and brighter.

4. What does this tell you about ISOs and what it does when you change it when you take pictures.
It means that the ISO change effects each lighting on photographs.

5. What about focus? Can you see a difference in the photos? Tell me what differences and similarities you see.
Yes, the focus gets better and better each time when the ISO is decreased.

6.

7. What do you need to concentrate on when you go out to shoot next time when you have to shoot in Manual setting?
I need to concentrate on having the right shutter speed and the right F-stop along with the ISO.

Great White and Black Photographers part 3.

1.) What first caught your eye while looking at your photographers photos? Is there something in particular about their photos that made you want to choose them? The first thing that caught my when i was looking at these pictures was the beauty and precise photographs. The fact that they were beautiful pictures made me choose those photos.

2.) Look at those 2 photos you posted last time. Use your five senses to tell me more about those photos. Answer them on your blog.

 Photograph #1
I see - A dark and rainy day, very humid out side. Not much sun light going through.
I smell - Very humid air, the type of air that you smell when it just freshly rained.
I hear - Thunder, rain pouring down. The sound that it makes when rain hits umbrellas.
I taste - Water, cold , cold water.
I feel - Cold , yet warm at the same time. Its relaxing at some point, but it may be scary with thunder.

Photograph #2
I see - A beautiful flower, unique , yet recognizable.
I smell - Flowers, the type of smell when you go to a flower shop and all you smell is the soothing smell of beautiful flowers.
I hear - Bee's flying near, their buzzing sound.
I taste - N/A
I feel - Relaxed, yet the bee's buzzing tickles my ears. The flower is smooth, but rough at its middle.

3) I would most likely make a blog about my photographer. The blog would be filled with his photographs , information about him, and the best pictures that he took.

Sim-Cam.

F4- Looks best at 1/25sec of a shutter speed. Its background is blurry, but you can see the couple clearly. The photographer could have used better focus.

F5.6-Loos best at 1/60sec of a shutter speed. Its background is a bit less blurry than F4 with 1/25sec. The photographer should have used more shutter speed.

F8-Looks best at 1/30sec of a shutter speed. Its background is not so blurry , and the couple are clear to see. The photographer could have used better lighting.

F11-Loos best at 1/30sec of a shutter speed. Its background is a bit clear with a little bit blur, the couple are clear to see, but its a bit dark. The photographer could have used better lighting and make the picture look lighter.

F16-Looks best at 1/30sec of a shutter speed. Its background is a bit blurry, but you can tell what they are, the couple are clear and you can distinguish them. The photographer could have done the same except the lighting.

F22-Looks best at 1/30sec of a shutter speed. Its background is clear but the couple look dark. The photograph looks like it had low lighting. The photographer could have used better lighting to make the picture look lighter.

ISO.

ISO 200

ISO 3200

1. What are the advantages of shoot at a higher ISO at a sporting event like basketball or a night football game? The photograph has more action and texture. But its low quality.

2. What suggestions did the author make about using a low ISO? The lower the ISO number, the less it is affected by light.

3. What suggestions did the author make about using a high ISO? The higher the ISO number, The more sensitive it is.

4. At the camera near you, please tell me what ISO's are available on your camera? 1600, 800, 400, 200, 100

Africa- Nick Brandt

My reaction to those photographs in the power point is that they are absolutely beautiful. The pictures are so amazing they make me want to go to Africa. Those photographs are great pictures and he is a great photographer. Nick Brandt too these photographs with a Pentax 67 and using a short lens. Brandt took these pictures because he had already done photography but he never thought of himself as a wildlife photographer. He had already been to Africa before and he fell in love with the place that he decided to go back with his camera during holiday and take photographs there.

"My images are unashamedly idyllic and romantic, a kind of enchanted Africa. They're my elegy to a world that is steadily, tragically vanishing." - Nick Brandt

The picture to the right was my absolute favorite photograph from the power point.
here.
